Impressions when I first walked into studios on West 26th Street. Metal detector. Lots of rolls of ribbons. Washer dryer. Huge kitchens. Nine Emmys lined up in conference room. “MARTHA” is all over the place. A lot of staff (not just hair and makeup, but also sound, lighting, camera, many kitchen people including one who seemed to focus on plating food). It is a well-honed machine. They would demand two stools and the stools would just magically appear. <\/p>\n

We did a rehearsal without Martha. They cut out a picture of General Tso and put it on a stick. They played my fortune cookie in China video. They also had beef with broccoli, General Tso’s chicken, chop suey, egg rolls + spring rolls.<\/p>\n
They have these beekeeper-type masks you put over your face so you don’t mess up your makeup if you change clothes.<\/p>\n
And it all went smoothly. Mom was in the audience! They even mic’ed her up and did hair and makeup.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
